CLARK COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT
SPRING 2008 TEACHING & LEARNING CONDITIONS ONLINE SURVEY
Welcome!
Business leaders have long recognized and responded to connections between employee working conditions and productivity. Many schools still struggle to assess and address critical components of school climate. Over the last decade, increasing numbers of educational researchers have demonstrated that teaching and learning conditions—e.g., the design, leadership, and culture of schools strongly influence teacher retention and students’ learning.
To enhance teaching and learning conditions, the Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Clark County Education Association (CCEA) are surveying those whose opinions matter most on these issues - educators themselves. Teachers and administrators are asked questions about time, facilities and resources, empowerment, leadership, and professional development. The responses of teachers and administrators matter on these issues.
CCSD wants to hear from you. This survey will provide you the opportunity to share your perceptions on issues critical to your teaching conditions and student learning conditions. This information will help drive school improvement planning, faculty conversations and assistance in efforts to improve school climate. As Clark County Superintendent Rulffes said, “One of the most important ingredients to a student's success is the classroom teacher. Providing and maintaining a professional working climate for all our teachers is a top priority in the CCSD. To achieve this goal, it is important for us to better understand your needs. We are interested in hearing from you and we ask that you participate in the survey so we can make teaching in our district as effective and rewarding as possible.”
Utilizing the 2007 survey results, CCSD and CCEA have taken action to respond to teaching and learning conditions data. The Clark County School District Teaching and Learning Conditions Team has been trained by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services in the use of Interest-Based Problem Solving. The TLC Team is currently working with CCSD schools to address identified goals. The TLC Team provides a valuable model for responding to needs with a sustained effort toward meaningful school reforms.
Take the survey now to advance teaching and learning throughout CCSD.
